Check out Manderach Memorial Playground

Although we have had a fairly mild winter, it feels as if it is lasting forever. My family is very excited for the spring weather and even more anxious to get outside and play. There are many places to visit and explore around our area and now is a great time to get out there!

I invite you to check out Limerick Community Park’s Manderach Memorial Playground, located at Swamp Pike & Ziegler Road in Limerick. This place is, by far, my children’s favorite park (and mine too). If you have never visited there before, allow me to tell you a little bit about it. When you enter the playground, you go in through the one and ONLY entrance/exit, which is a bonus for parents, because it makes it really hard for your kids to wander off somewhere. You will then notice that there are different play areas. To the right is a play area for the younger children. There aren’t many steps to go up (or fall down), no “too high off the ground,” and it has things that the little ones enjoy playing with. To the left of that are the legendary, giant slides. There are two stairways to get up to the top (one on each side of the slides). As you make the adventure up, there are fun look-out areas to stop at and see all around the park. When you finally make it to the top, the fun really begins. (Honestly, I think that I have as much fun on the slides as the children do!) If you can pry the kids away from the giant slides long enough, you can venture over to the left side of the park. There is another large playground, saucers that swing, a tire swing, and also a netted circle where you can spin a bunch of children around at once. Now, I know I didn’t even touch all of the things that there are to do and explore there, but those are some of the popular ones. There are even signs, at each play set, that tell you for what ages it is appropriate. Please note that the playground is closed on the first Monday of each month from 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM for inspections and maintenance to be performed.

The playground is just a small part of the huge Limerick Park. The entire park is 70 acres and includes: 2 pavilions (what a great place to rent for a picnic or party!), 3 softball fields, 2 little league fields, 1 baseball field, 2 sand volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts, 2 restroom facilities, and a 1.1 mile paved running/walking track with 12 fitness stations.
